Frequently Asked Questions

Who is involved in the Total Eclipse ROC’s the Market event and why?

Laughing Gull Chocolates and Rohrbach Brewing Company came together with the intent to throw an amazing free and public event for this momentous occasion. Together with the City of Rochester, our teams have been working hard to make this an inclusive, accessible and fun event with a local community feel. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Kids Summer Programs!

What is a Total Eclipse?

A Total Eclipse is when the moon passes in front of the sun, covering it completely. On April 8th, 2024 Rochester is in the path of totality, and we will have the full multisensory experience of the moon covering the sun!

How can I view the eclipse?

It is unsafe to view a partial eclipse without an aid such as solar glasses. Our goal is to make sure every attendee of our event has glasses to be able to enjoy the eclipse in all its beauty! During the brief moments of totality, it is safe to view the eclipse without glasses.

Why view the Eclipse at the market?

We will have a great view of the eclipse plus amazing vendors, entertainment, and kids activities. This is a FREE event for the public and we want it to feel community oriented and be accessible to everyone.

What if it’s a cloudy day?

It will still get dark, and we will experience a change in temperature as well as other subtle natural phenomena! We will experience totality through theclouds and we are still going to have a fun, eclipse themed day!

What else can I expect at the event?

We will have food trucks, amazing local vendors with eclipse themed goodies, free family activities, family friendly entertainment, Rohrbach Brewing beverages, Laughing Gull Chocolates treats and more!

I’ve heard a Total Eclipse can cause lots of traffic….?

Yes, this is expected to be a large event for Rochester and anyone in the path of totality. We are working with local transportation to ensure we have public transportation available, find out parking and road restrictions, and make sure we can keep everyone safe. We will update our site with more information as it becomes available.

What should I and can I bring into this event?

No outside alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Strollers and children’s wagon riders will be permitted. We encourage everyone to bring a water bottle.
